Oggi vi propongo un'articolo direttamente dal sito NBA.com, c'è molto da commentare anche se sono chiacchiere estive e lasciano il tempo che trovano però lo voglio lasciare in inglese perchè rende meglio.
Panned more for what they didn’t do on draft night than anything they’d done in the weeks and months before, and for Ron Artest‘s proposed name change (we’re not calling him “Metta World Peace” until it becomes official), it’s stunning to see how dramatically the Los Angeles Lakers’ stock has dropped in the eyes of many. They’re not the powerhouse crew that has made trips to the NBA Finals in three of the last four years, winning back-to-back titles. Instead, they’re seen by most as the supposed contender that was demolished in four straight games by the champion Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference semifinals. Rumors of the Lakers’ demise have been greatly exaggerated. From the calls for trading anyone butKobe Bryant for Dwight Howard to the demand that Lamar Odom (or Andrew Bynum or Pau Gasol) be shipped out of town for Kevin Love, people need to calm down. There aren’t two teams in the Western Conference, as presently constituted, that we would rank ahead of the Lakers. The Mavericks are the reigning champs and deserve the nod. But even the Thunder, as exciting as they can be at times, don’t strike us as a team capable of doing to the Lakers what the Mavericks were able to do to them in the playoffs. Those are the only two teams that would reside in the same neighborhood as the Lakers right now, after the draft and before anyone does anything in free agency. And there’s an argument to be made that a rested and refocused Lakers team, one armed with a new, younger coach that knows he needs to prove himself in order to escape the shadow of legendary coach Phil Jackson, could challenge the Mavericks for the top spot. As long as there is breath in Bryant’s body the Lakers will remain a championship caliber team. The pieces around, while vital to their championship aspirations, can be shuffled. Bryant holds the key to their immediate future, if Howard or any other superstar is paired with him down the line so be it.

Scherzi a parte, non credo che Superman vada a Los Angeles. A orlando sta bene, è la star assoluta, e gli hanno promesso che gli costruiranno la squadra intorno, anche se come ho detto più volte, lui è il primo che deve migliorare soprattutto nei movimenti offensivi, dove può prendere lezioni ad asempio da Scola. Comunque bisogna stare attenti perchè l'anno prossimo diventa FREE AGENT. Alle chiacchere su Love ci credo -1. Penso che la priorità dei Lakers sia prendere comunque Chris Paul. Gli serve come il pane, ma sicuramente dovrà cedere uno tra Pau, Lamar o Bynum se vuole prendere il migliore play della lega senza ombra di discussione, e tra i tre sicuramente sceglieranno Odom, ma forse nemmeno potrebbe bastare....Vedremo cosa si inventeranno i responsabili di mercato. Cercherei poi dal draft una guardia giovane, che possa fare una buona figura: tra quelle attuali a parte Koby, terrei solo pesciolino e Brown. Bisogna poi vedere se ancora si fidano di Artest (e del suo imminente cambio di nome :-)): in caso contrario farei una trade con qualcuno e andrei a prendere un'ala piccola difensiva che dia quell'intensità in campo che RON RON quest'anno non ha dato. In ogni caso il lavoro da fare è bello tosto, perchè secondo me Dallas e Thunder al momento sono le migliori ad Ovest: Dallas è campione in carica e se rifirma una buona parte di quelli che andranno in FREE AGENT, (sprattutto BUTLER, CHANDLER e BAREA...almeno per questi credo non ci saranno tanti problemi anche se poi bisogna sempre vedere quanti soldi vogliono e se si riesce ad incastrare le loro richieste con l'imminente salary cap RIGIDO) saranno comunque la squadra da battere. Ad OKLAHOMA manca pochissimo per essere una vera contendente per il titolo. Forse un centro (vediamo quest'anno Perkins come gioca) e forse qualcuno in panchina di livello. Da non sottovalutare quest'anno nemmeno MEMPHIS che con il ritorno di GAY potrebbe fare sfracelli!
RispondiEliminaA me l'unica chiacchiera che mi ispira è quelle del cambio di nome per Ron Ron. Vi prego lasciatelo in California...anche perchè con il cambio di nome ne vedremo delle belle, ve lo assicuro. Per il resto aspettiamo notizie dalla Mela per quanto riguarda il lock-out.
